Ms. Johnson

Class Description:

Simmons-Pinckney Middle School is proud to offer string instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass. Orchestra class is a performance based class, and we invite you to come hear us perform at PTA meetings and other after school concerts!

Throughout the school year students will not only learn how to play an instrument and to read music, but they will also develop skills such as self-discipline and teamwork. Research continually shows that music has a profound impact on the academic success of students as one of the only activities to activate and stimulate the entire brain.

If you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Teacher Biography:

Making and sharing music is a lifelong passion of mine. I began playing cello 15 years ago in public school orchestra programs and later earned a Bachelor's Degree of Music with an emphasis in Music Education from the University of South Carolina. During my first couple of years teaching, I completed an Artist Certificate in Cello Performance from the College of Charleston.

I continue to perform regularly with local ensembles including the North Charleston Pops! Orchestra, the Longbay Symphony Orchestra in Myrtle Beach, and Palmetto Strings' wedding and event ensembles in Charleston.
