Thanks so much for inviting me to be your Spanish teacher for this school year. My name is Erin Caldwell, and I am from Kentucky. Previously, I was a bilingual financial representative for a small cell phone company in Huntington, West Virginia. This job allowed me to use my Spanish to assist customers and to interact with other bilingual representatives. However, this school year, you are graciously giving me the opportunity to share my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture with our students. My hope is to bring all of my international experience into the classroom.

Knowing that nothing in life is of mere coincidence, my interest in Spanish was birthed and nurtured by the greatest high school Spanish teacher in the world, Mrs. Susan Stucker. Her influence eventually led my family to host an exchange student from South America for one year, and that experience gave me the courage to become an exchange student and complete my senior year of high school in Venezuela. Upon my return home to the United States, I started college and eventually earned a B.A. in Spanish/Teaching from Eastern Kentucky University. Later, with some encouragement from professors and friends, I decided to attend Murray State University. In 2003, I completed my M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. Since then, I have had the privilege of spending considerable time in Mexico, Honduras, Bangladesh, and Thailand. Please know that I am looking forward to meeting all of you and welcome your comments or questions along the way.
