At Simmons-Pinckney, we lead our scholars toward college and career readiness with AVID.

AVID is an acronym for Advancement Via Individual Determination

Student Scholars in each grade level are invited to join the AVID Elective Course taught by Mrs. Shirley Hardiman-Rawnsley.  This course requires an agreement with the student and family to strive higher and harder for college and career readiness in a global society.

Simmons-Pinckney practices whole-school AVID protocols with each scholar utilizing 3-inch binder, participating in weekly binder checks, and engaging in strategies to enhance Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR).

Learn more about AVID on Monday, August 19th at 4:30 am at a Parent/Guardian & Student Information Session in the SPMS Cafeteria during Fact & Fee Day.  Light refreshments will be provided at this Parent-Student Education offering.
